The search for shoes
And sun will leave us
With cracked feet and
empty minds, rummaging
In the quiet street lights
Where blue and red are
green and each
Appear only as wet grey
Wet on our socks
Under our armpits and
In the backyards where
Poverty makes a puddle
Of tears big enough for
Politicians to propagate
A fountain to swim in
Every night.
