Peridot fits with an unknown red
Gemstone. Not from these mines.
Creates Midsummer’s Night Dream
For the cold people of Silverton
It is almost train time.
The girl in the window,
She vanishes into light and shadow.
Boarded up store fronts
A man crosses the street with no
Witness. But everyone is there.
Back and forth he goes. And goes.
Up hill water rushes
Through all the panned out gold
Mines. Can they open once more?
Fill the place with coveted ore?
She still sits in the window
Heart hoping for her lover
The air is cold and clear
Necklace and earrings freeze in place
Midsummer’s Night Dream gets
Them through winter’s time,
Out of their haunted quiet space.
