Grief
Ties knots in our stomachs
Nooses that get heavier with gravity
Ties knots in our souls
Figure eights holding our weight
Ties knots in our hair
Sheet bends for when we can’t get out of bed.
Grief makes knots of our minds
We search out for kindness
Reminded that we want to flick
On the light switch
Grapple for the brilliance
Despite the shadows that fall in our paths
Knots make strings of us
Completely divide us, cutting off halves
Of the whole
Of humanity
And we can untie them
Know all the secrets and that bind them
And these tricks will enlighten us
Forever have faith in us
Comb out our hair for us and turn our grief into love.
